Faculty Tuesday: CU Voice Faculty

"Sweet Harmony" The Voice Faculty celebrate Shakespeare at CU's exhibition of Shakespeare's First Folio at the CU Art Museum by presenting a recital of musical highlights featuring the Bard's texts, including art songs and opera excerpts in multiple languages by great composers such as Berlioz, Gounod, Strauss, Korngold and Quilter. Featuring Jennifer Bird, soprano; Leigh Holman, mezzo-soprano; Abigail Nims, mezzo-soprano; Matthew Chellis, tenor; Patrick Mason, baritone; and Jeremy Reger, piano. The Denver Film Society's Reel Social Club presents their annual Summer Scream at Lakeside Amusement Park. Because adults should have some fun during the summer too! Each year, the Reel Social Club says a proper goodbye to Summer with their annual fundraiser (Summer Scream). It's the only private, cultural event to take over Denver’s historic Lakeside Amusement Park - all in support of the Denver Film Society. Tickets include unlimited rides, open bar, and of course, unlimited fun.

"Give Me Some Music" In a concert celebrating the "First Folio! The Book that Gave Us Shakespeare" exhibit, the CU piano faculty and guests present music inspired by Shakespeare. The program includes works by Liszt, Mendelssohn and Prokofiev as well as a chamber work by Professor Emeritus of Theory and Composition Luis Jorge Gonzalez. Featuring Andrew Cooperstock, Alejandro Cremaschi, Jennifer Hayghe, David Korevaar and Alexandra Nguyen, piano; David Requiro, cello; and Daniel Silver, bass clarinet. Abend Gallery - Elsa Sroka Solo Exhibition

This fall Abend Gallery is proud to present a solo exhibition by gallery artist Elsa Sroka. The wonderful world of animals for which she is known is extended in this body of work, here with a fresh take on the faces and spaces we normally see. Sroka has a knack for portraying her subjects with so much personality and life that viewers of all ages and backgrounds delight in her work. The exhibition runs September 2 through October 1, with the opening reception on Friday, September 2, from 6-9 pm.
