Good afternoon, I hope this email finds you well! I am writing to notify your publication of an upcoming fundraising event in Denver. On Tuesday, September 16th, Teach For America- Colorado is hosting its Inaugural Fall Leadership Dinner at the Seawell Grand Ballroom at The Denver Center for the Performing Arts. Teach For America is a nonprofit working in partnership with communities to expand educational opportunities for children facing the challenges of poverty. We recruit and develop a diverse corps of outstanding college graduates and professionals with a passion for social justice to commit at least two years to teach in local public schools in low-income urban and rural communities and become lifelong leaders in the movement to end educational inequity. Teach For America–Colorado partners with Adams 14, Aurora Public Schools, Denver Public Schools, Harrison School District 2 in Colorado Springs, Sheridan Public Schools, and for the first time this year Pueblo City Schools (D60). There are 235,000 children growing up in low-income communities in Colorado. Research shows that only 8 percent of children from low-income communities will graduate from college, versus 70 percent of their more affluent peers. We’d love to get this event on your calendar, event section or in an e-newsletter so your readers are aware of this great opportunity to help raise funds that will be used toward helping to provide educational opportunity for students in Colorado. For information please visit our event website or give me a call. Additionally, we will send a formal invitation in the next few weeks to invite someone on your staff to attend and learn more about Teach For America-Colorado. Thanks in advance for helping us spread the word about this event, and have a great day!
