The Otherland

In their MFA show, Bailey Anderson and Rosely Conz explore ideas of what it means to be a stranger in a space or land. Through modern dance, inversion, artificial grass and zigzags, these two works focus on the concepts of disability and foreignness.

Presented by Takács Quartet Series. Since its formation at Juilliard in 2003, the Attacca Quartet has become one of North America’s premier young ensembles. The quartet has received multiple honors, including first prize in the 7thOsaka International Chamber Music Competition and the Listener’s Choice Award recipients in the 2011 Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition. The New York Times described The Attacca Quartet’s Fellow Traveler: The Complete String Quartet Works of John Adams, (Azica Records, 2013) as “exuberant, funky … and exactingly nuanced.”

Woyzeck: The Endless Cycle 1.0

Original adaptation of Georg Buchner’s Woyzeck By William Lewis with Charlie Biscotto Directed by William Lewis Psychology, anatomy, theology and nature vs. nurture. “Woyzeck: The Endless Cycle 1.0,” a new adaptation of “Woyzeck” by Georg Buchner, explores the impact of society on the fragile psychology of one individual. This rendition uses digital media to juxtapose contemporary life against the breakdown of a potential everyman by the hands of those he loves and admires. “The Endless Cycle 1.0” examines the timeless – and timely – themes of inequality and oppression that resurface in a cyclical pattern.
