The world is getting hotter, there’s unrest overseas—the seas themselves aren’t very calm —and one couple is thinking about having a child. “Lungs” is a smart and funny drama that follows a couple through the surprising lifecycle of their relationship as they grapple with questions of family and change, hope, betrayal, happenstance, and the terrible pain that you can only cause the people you love.WHEN

In “The Kentucky Cycle,” a series of nine short plays, Robert Schenkkan has created a mesmerizing epic of the Cumberland Plateau and an unblinking look at the truth behind our American mythology. Spanning two centuries, from 1775 to 1975, this is the story of three families – Black, White, and Native American - whose lives are irrevocably intertwined. Fast-paced and finely drawn, Schenkkan’s stunning, two-part play examines an American past which have created, for better or worse, the country we are today.WHEN

In this playful adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic romance, Kate Hamill gives the story we know and love an unconventional updating. In Regency England, love is a serious game, and the Bennet sisters are playing for keeps. But when marriage is a must for women, how will they be able to tell if they’ve won? This clever comedy offers a decidedly progressive take on the trials of Lizzy, Mr. Darcy, and the whole Bennet clan, with a few dance breaks thrown in for good measure. “The stuff hits are made of. Cleverly compressed and adapted with fizzy, festive freedom.” (Wall Street Journal)WHEN

“Funny Girl” is based on the life story of Ziegfeld sensation and comedian Fanny Brice, from her start in vaudeville and burlesque to her romance with entrepreneur and gambler Nick Arnstein and success on stage and in film. The show was produced by Brice’s son-in-law Ray Stark, a prolific film producer in post-war Hollywood who commissioned a book about her; he went through several writers and a version of the story before selecting Isobel Lennart’s. Originally titled “My Man,” Julie Styne and Bob Merrill wrote the music and lyrics. The musical debuted on Broadway in 1964 and was the star vehicle for Barbra Streisand who became known for the shows classic songs “People Who Need People” and “Don't Rain on My Parade.” “Funny Girl” was recently revived in London and won an award for Best Revival of a Musical.Denver Restaurant Week starts TODAY!!!
