Spooky Season Candy and Wine Pairings from Postino WineCafé’s Sommelier

Though wine enthusiasts may be a little too old for trick-or-treating, they can still enjoy the sweets of the season with these curated wine and candy pairings from Postino WineCafé’s beverage director and Advanced Sommelier, Brent Karlicek. For Skittles fans, Karlicek recommends Hi-Rise Sauvignon Blanc – a fresh, focused and zippy wine with a hint of lime, which pairs wonderfully with the fruity burst of Skittles and leaves a clean blast of flavor with every sip. The berry and tropical flavors of Starburst candies are beautifully complemented by the Fiore Moscato D’Asti’s powerful aromas and flavors of ripe citrus. Karlicek suggests pairing caramel apple pops with Holly’s Way – a chardonnay with an apple and vanilla aroma and an oak finish. One of Halloween’s most iconic candy, Twizzlers, pairs perfectly with Mary Taylor Cabernet Franc, a French wine featuring notes of deep currant, dried flowers and licorice. Go ahead and load up on Halloween candy and swing by your neighborhood Postino location to pick up these perfect wine pairings. Learn more at here.
