Celebrate Hispanic Heritage in Downtown Denver

Downtown Denver is celebrating Colorado’s vibrant Hispanic and Latin American cultures with two events in early September. From local vendors and Latin beats at McGregor Square to live music, dance and cultural activities at Denver Union Station, both events are free and open to the community.

McGregor Square is excited to celebrate Colorado’s vibrant Hispanic culture on Saturday, Sept. 5th with Mercado at McGregor Square, an open-air festival featuring local vendors, handcrafted goods, Latin beats and more.

Held from 3 p.m. – 9 p.m., the community is invited to shop and enjoy the energetic LoDo atmosphere.

Stroll through McGregor Square and discover goods by Abuelita’s Tiendita, Bella Vista Goods, East Los Arte, Jaded Crow Jewelry, Mactzil Boutique, Witch of the Wildes, Azomalli and more.

Head to the new McGregor Square Food & Drink for a wide variety of delicious bites, including Ta-Co, which serves authentic Mexican favorites like burritos, nachos, quesadillas, tostadas, tacos and more.

Denver Union Station and the Mexican Cultural Center Denver are excited to help kick off Hispanic Heritage Month with Ritmo & Raíces, a free, family-friendly celebration at the iconic downtown train station on Sunday, Sept. 6.

Ritmo & Raíces, which means “Rhythm & Roots,” will be a festive celebration of the rich and diverse cultures of Latin America through live music, traditional and contemporary dance, food, history, and community.

Free and open to all, this inaugural event will be held from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. and will feature a variety of cultural performances outside on Wynkoop Plaza and the Terminal Bar patio, including:

  • Sangre de Mexico – Mexico
  • Qhaswa Perú – Peru
  • Mariachi Internacional Denver – Mexico
  • Estudio Colombia – Colombia

Attendees can also enjoy free face painting, bilingual historic tours of Denver Union Station, community partner craft stations and Latin American-inspired food and beverage specials available for purchase throughout the Station. Guests 21+ are invited to visit the Terminal Bar Patio for a donation-based tequila tasting experience.
