Experience A Valentine’s Staycation At The Hotel Clio
The Hotel Clio in Cherry Creek is the perfect staycation this Valentine's day with ceviche classes, fine dining at the Toro and bottomless brunch
Hello my fellow foodies and welcome back. There are not many places in Denver where you can have a ceviche tasting, a bottomless brunch, a working beehive making honey, five-star accommodations, and an onsite restaurant to die for under one roof. Welcome to Hotel Clio, a special place in Cherry Creek that gives you all these fantastic experiences without leaving the hotel. With Valentine’s Day around the corner, I thought I needed to go check out this hotel and indulge in all that they have to offer.
Hotel Clio is a modern and refined luxury hotel with a curated art collection to view in every corner of the hotel. I checked in with my husband just in time for the ceviche class offered every Friday at 4pm at the in-house restaurant Toro. Toro is a Richard Sandoval restaurant, and I am a huge fan of his, so we knew that the entire weekend was going to be special. After the class, we headed to the bar for a cocktail and then to Toro for dinner. This Latin kitchen, with locally sourced ingredients was a huge hit from every angle. Small plates, a ceviche bar in case you missed the class, and exquisite South American fare made this restaurant on the top of my list in Colorado. Some of the dishes that stood out were the Lobster Quesadillas and the Sweet Corn Empanadas. Both shared starters were something I would enter into any food contest, so a must order when you are there. Toro also creates sushi rolls that are inventive and delish! The Flambeed Salmon Roll with cucumber, tobiko, chipotle mayo, and scallion was our favorite. I really wanted to try the Smoked Tomato Soup, but that gives me a reason to venture back. There are lots of cocktails to accompany your special meal that are some of the most unusual and delicious I have tried.
After a perfect night’s sleep at the hotel, we headed to Toro once again because we had heard phenomenal things about their Bottomless Brunch. With unlimited bebidas and postres and a choice from the main menu, the bottomless brunch was a gold medal winner in my book. The shrimp Aguachile and the BBQ edamame were the stars but let your taste buds take you in a South American brunch adventure and you can decide which is your favorite. As far as brunch in Denver goes, Toro just got itself a new fan.
Cherry Creek is one of my favorite areas of Denver, and the Hotel Clio did not disappoint. It’s the perfect place to have a fabulous dinner or brunch, and most importantly, a staycation away from it all. Sometimes it’s nice to forget about your worries, check into a luxury hotel, and literally just check out. I left feeling rejuvenated, and most of all, looking forward to returning soon. Before I left, I checked out the happenings on the rooftop beehive from the screen in the lobby. They will be having bee-centric food dinners based on the honey collected from this in-house amenity to the hotel. What a great addition to an already perfect hotel. If you want to have a memorable Valentine’s Day retreat, you can’t go wrong at The Hotel Clio. I’m feeling the Valentine’s love already. There are Valentine’s packages online that include “Radiant Retreat” and “The Hearts Desire”, both which will give you all the Valentine’s feels! Check out their website for more info. Until next time my fellow foodies, eat well, drink well, and be well.
