Hello my fellow foodies and welcome back. With Summer just around the corner, I decided to check out a staycation in Evergreen Colorado that will give me all those Colorado mountain feels. I live in Evergreen, but sometimes a girl needs to get away, relax, and take a break for a minute. Highland Haven Creekside Inn sits along Bear Creek, with eighteen accommodations. Among them are cabins, lofts, and suites, with some overlooking the stunning creek, but all different in their own special way. The Inn is quaint, with all the modern luxuries you will need, but with that mountain twist on them. I have had many friends stay there and rave about it, but I wanted to go check it out for myself. I have also heard that their breakfasts are legendary, so off pop for my close to home pre–Summer staycation.

When you arrive at the Inn, you know you are in for a treat before even stepping into the room. The tranquil sounds of Bear Creek and the sculptures that surround the Inn are breathtaking. I checked into my cabin, and it was jaw dropping. My room had a full-sized hot tub, fireplace, and mini kitchen. The Inn even has a treehouse to book, which comes complete with a 2-person jacuzzi and stellar views. I settled in for the night with the roar of the fire, poured a glass of wine and although I was only 15 minutes from home, I felt as if I just stepped into a Hallmark movie. Gail Riley, the owner of Highland Haven Creekside Inn has owned the inn with her husband Tom Statzell since 1979.

The next morning there was a knock at the door with delivery of my breakfast, which is included with every stay. I opted for the mimosa package as well. The care that goes into every breakfast is beyond what I have had at any Inn, and the best part is it is delivered right to your room, so you can enjoy your breakfast in bed, on the creek, or sitting by the fire. I had an egg frittata, a cinnamon danish, and fresh fruit, as well as a mimosa of course. Coffee can be made in the room to go with your hearty mountain breakfast.  There are cheese boards you can order as well as a complimentary happy hour every night to chat with your fellow vacationers.

Exploring Evergreen and all that it has to offer is a hop skip and jump away at Highland Haven Creekside Inn. You can walk to Evergreen Lake to fish, walk, or explore. Many spectacular hikes are no more than a five minute drive from the Inn, and there are shops, restaurants and wineries also within walking distance.

Getting away doesn’t always mean navigating crowded airports, jumping on a plane or train and traveling for hours. Highland Haven is truly a “Haven” located so close to Denver, and you will truly feel like it is worlds away. In the upcoming summer months, they fill up quickly, so my advice to you is to make a reservation, treat yourself and your loved one, and embark on a hassle-free mountain style staycation you will never forget!  Until next time my fellow foodies, eat well, drink well and be well.
