The City Park Farmers Market runs from May 4 through October 26 this year, expanding by two weeks to cover an entire half year. With 100+ total vendors, including over 15 new this year, the organizers aim to better satisfy grocery needs for the home shopper while elevating offerings for local chefs. With more farm partners, a wider variety of baked goods, additional meat purveyors and two cheesemakers, this year’s lineup changes add depth to the market offerings and focus on those who add significant value to the Denver food scene.

As the community allows, the market has worked to expand produce offerings each year, always consulting with the existing farm team before welcoming any new partners. Building on its goal of creating a farm produce-centric shopping experience, Common Name Farm and Brown Dog Farm join the lineup this year. River Bear Meats, Black Gold Family Farm and Conscious Farms add charcuterie, pork and poultry (respectively) to the market’s offerings. In total, 23 farms and ranches will be represented throughout the season.

“We really considered how to fill grocery shopping and meal planning gaps this year so that people can legitimately source local ethical food six months of the year,” said Peter Wanberg, co-owner. “We did this while ensuring all partners and products fit the ethos of what we want our farmers market to be, which is a local growers-focused market.”

The market is proud of its reputation among area chefs as a place to source high quality local produce for restaurants, strengthening Denver’s farm to table partnerships. Its chef demo program continues to expand, kicking off with Chef Paul Worthen of Potager on May 25 and continuing with award-winning chefs like Caroline Glover, Michael Diaz de Leon and others, who are invited to shop the market and create a dish on site to be shared with market attendees.

The market also features a strong lineup of prepared food options, including the additions of Other Dog, Aiana Tacos and Chaatwala, making it a place to shop for but also enjoy locally sourced food on site, with lots of space for picnicking and cafe-style seating in the center of the esplanade for diners.

The market runs every Saturday from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. May through October. Other activities include a run club at 8 a.m., donation-based yoga at 9 a.m. and live music from local acts.
