Celebrate A Month Of Printmaking With Fine-Art In All Forms
Starting March 1 Black Ink, a Mo'Print Fundraiser, brings an event full of unique printmaking art
The Month of Printmaking (Mo’Print), a biennial celebration of fine-art printmaking in all its forms, is excited to announce the details of this year’s event. The focus of programming is scheduled throughout March 2024, but related events begin in January and run through spring with over fifty exhibitions to explore in cities across the Colorado Front Range. A full calendar of exhibitions, hands-on workshops and other experiences can be found at www.moprint.org. Some workshops require registration and fees and participants are encouraged to register early to ensure a spot.
The festivities open on March 1, with Black Ink, a Mo’Print Fundraiser from 6 pm-Midnight at TRVE Brewery, 227 Broadway, Denver. Admission is free. This event makes art accessible while supporting the Mo’Print programs with a wide variety of prints on sale for only $10, featuring designs by 66 different artists, some seasoned printers and others who are new to the form. Look for work from such well-known local artists as Taiko Chandler, Mark Lunning, Johanna Mueller, Tony Ortega, Collin Parson and Emily Grace King. The pieces are made from relief-cut 8×6” linoleum blocks that are then manually printed on 12×9” paper by volunteer master printers using the letterpress at Ghenis Kern. Only 35 signed original prints from each edition are available so attendees are encouraged to arrive early for the best selection as popular prints will sell out fast! Past Black Ink events have inspired new collectors and have drawn people back every two years to enthusiastically add to their set. The remaining prints will be on view at TRVE through March 31 and available to purchase on-site as well as at the Open Portfolio and Print Jam events. Select Black Ink designs will also be live printed onto T-shirts and sold during Print Jam. (See Print Jam below for more details).
