Breck Create Announces Exciting Summer 2024 Happenings

Breck Create, a renowned arts and cultural organization, hosts celebrations of engagement, accessibility and world-class programming

Breck Create, the renowned arts and cultural organization in Breckenridge, Colo., is delighted to unveil its distinctive lineup of Summer 2024 happenings, which aims to foster engagement and appreciation of the arts for all. This season’s programming showcases a diverse range of relevant topics, all rooted in the local community and the people who live, work and play in Breckenridge. From featuring the talents of local and visiting artists to producing the Breckenridge International Festival of Arts (BIFA), live performances and interactive events, this season is poised to be one of the best yet.

Misc

From audience members to class participants, Breck Create provides a range of services tailored to those requiring accessibility accommodations. This year during BIFA, one of the Trail Mix art installations, Miner Key by local artist Bill Orisich, will be ADA accessible. Trail Mix is BIFA’s signature program, where art and nature converge on the trailhead. On the Arts District Campus, two creative classes will be offered in both Spanish and English: Beginner Linocut Printmaking and Beginner Screen Printing.

Airstage

The Riverwalk Center, where many of Breck Create’s events take place, is ADA accessible. From the box office to the main concessions area and all public restrooms, every part of the facility is designed to be accessible to individuals with mobility challenges. Breck Create ticketing representatives are readily available to assist patrons in selecting seats that meet specific needs. Patrons may inform a representative of any special requirements at the time of purchase. Furthermore, the Riverwalk Center is equipped with a hearing loop system, with accompanying hardware available upon request to any patron. The facility also accommodates sight-impaired patrons by offering suitable locations upon request.

Breck Create’s Summer 2024 offerings

Creative Classes + Workshops – Breck Create summer 2024 creative classes and workshops include several new and exciting additions to the roster. The core curriculum of drawing, glassblowing, ceramics and metalsmithing remain as well as the perennial favorite class, Toddler Art.

New classes geared toward more mature students include Intro to Film Photography (ages 17+) along with Edible Foraging and Cooking (ages 15+). Over the course of five weeks, Intro to DJing: Electronic Music for Young Adults Series (ages 10+) teaches mixing techniques, track structure and selection, gear set-up plus performance and live streaming basics.

Summer Art Camps – Breck Create invites children, tweens and teens to explore their creativity through a range of summer camps focused on the arts. Three summer camp sessions begin July 15th and last through the first week of August. Each session is five days, Monday – Friday, with morning and afternoon options available. Children ages 6 to 13 are welcome. Themed camp activities include printing, painting and dying with plants; quilting, mask-making and storytelling and more. Registration is open and spots are filling up quickly.

Artists-in-Residence Open Door Program – Breck Create supports a vibrant arts community, nurturing local, regional and national artists by providing affordable space for them to work. Visit the artists and their studios through open door hours and workshops, where you can learn about their practice, view their work and purchase art.

Riverwalk Center

Art Exhibitions – Breck Create features two California-based exhibiting artists for the summer 2024 season: Megan Geckler and Gerald Clarke. Geckler and Clarke’s work will be on display at Old Masonic Hall the entire summer; both artists will also be featured in the Breckenridge International Festival of Arts (BIFA) signature program, Trail Mix, alongside local talent Bill Orisich.
