Hello my fellow foodies and welcome back. Church & Union in Denver has recently celebrated its one-year anniversary. I couldn’t make it to the big party, but word on the street is that Church & Union is a fantastic modern American dining experience, complete with art on the walls that you don’t want to miss.

Church & Union is a venture by the 5th Street Group, led by Bravo TV Top Chef double contestant Chef Jamie Lynch, Chef Adam Hodgson, Patrick Whalen, and Alejandro Torio. 5th Street Group started in 2012, with the first Church & Union opening in Charlotte, NC. There are now four locations, with a fifth planned for Miami very soon. The menus have a southern flair, with mainstays as well as a few regional dishes from the city they are located in.

You can’t help but look straight up at the gorgeous ceiling of Church & Union the minute you enter. It is decorated with writing from the book The Art of War, with quotes that stand out and make you want to take pictures. There are many more eclectic and interesting pieces of art all over the restaurant, so look around before you sit down to dine. Church & Union is a visually stunning restaurant, but not pretentious at all—just the way I like it.

There were so many interesting items on the menu, so my husband and I decided to share a few appetizers and entrees to get the full experience. There is no better way to start your meal than with the F***** O**** (French Onion) Agnolotti. Think of them as little homemade pasta puffs filled with rich Gruyere and creamy onions. They were such a great bite to start off with. I love a good shrimp cocktail, and theirs was a perfect 10. The shrimp were enormous and so tasty; they were a meal in themselves, making them a good appetizer to share.

For our entrees, we had to try Chef Jamie’s Lamb Burger because it was featured on Top Chef. We also ordered the Colorado Ruby Red Trout, which is exclusive to the Denver menu. Both were served beautifully and were full of flavor. The cocktail list is extensive and inventive, with tons of libation or alcohol-free options.

If you are looking for a great place to dine after adventuring, seeing a show, or just relaxing in Denver, Church & Union is your answer. I’m so glad they chose Denver as a location for such a fabulous place to dine in the Mile High City.
