Authentic Italian Wine Getaway Right in the Heart of Evergreen Colorado

Welcome back my fellow foodies. I just arrived back from Sonoma on vacation, so I am totally in wine and delicious food mode. I got the chance to extend my vacation, but in Evergreen Colorado at Bistro Del Lago. They hosted a wine dinner partnering with Fisher Wineries out of Napa and Sonoma. Bistro Del Lago is a not to be missed stop in Evergreen Colorado. Make no mistake, this isn’t your typical red sauce Italian restaurant. Owner JR Lannaccone is turning out upscale authentic Italian food with the freshest ingredients, and it’s five stars.

We paired our amazing house salad and fresh mussels with Fisher’s 2019 Unity Pinot Noir to start. If you are a pinot drinker, this wine is for you. It’s light, its fruity, it’s California greatness in a bottle. The mussels were a perfect pairing with the pinot. Thanks goodness they give you dipping bread to go with it because I would have had to drink the rest of the sauce otherwise, it was that good.

Next came the Cabernets paired with a Lazy Acre Beef ribeye steak. The steak, topped with a veal demiglace was perfectly cooked and seasoned . The Cabernet’s…oh the Cabernets…. The 2019 Coach Insignia and the 2018 Mountain Estate Cabernets were outstanding. I turned to my husband and said, “These are the most delicious wines I have ever had”. These are small batch wines that you cannot buy in a store. They are special in every sense of the word. If you are in the Sonoma area, don’t miss this winery.

The night was capped off with a perfect hazelnut crunch gelato. Absolutely delish. Bistro del Lago makes you feel like family when you are there, and that’s the kind of place I like. I can’t wait to see what they turn out next. The menu is always changing, and they are constantly having food events. This was a wine dinner in Evergreen Colorado I’ll never forget.
