Kentucky Derby watch parties are returning across the Denver area on Saturday, May 2, with a mix of rooftop gatherings, hotel events and family-friendly fundraisers. From skyline views in Cherry Creek to miniature horse races in Castle Rock, the events offer a range of ways to mark the Kentucky Derby.

Derby Day Party at Rare Bird
Celebrate the most exciting two minutes in sports from the best seat in Cherry Creek at Rare Bird, located atop Halcyon. Free to attend, step into a vibrant rooftop scene complete with festive décor, skyline views, curated cocktails, themed bites and a live DJ, best dressed and best hat contests, the Derby streamed live across multiple screens and a puppy race — with adoptable puppies — in partnership with True Companions. Derby After Party at Forget Me Not
Forget Me Notis hosting the ultimate post-derby party in Cherry Creek. Starting at 12 p.m., horse racing fans can stop by for an afternoon full of fun derby-inspired cocktails and small bites, giveaways and contests for “best dressed,” “biggest loser” and more. Annual Kentucky Derby Party at St Julien
Join St Julien Hotel & Spa for its annual Derby party that blends southern charm with Rocky Mountain luxury on Saturday, May 2, from 1-5 p.m. For $130 per person, guests will enjoy live music from Maydays, an open premium bar, a Southern style buffet, a Derby hat contest for prizes, hand rolling cigars by Palma Cigar Company puppy racing from Mile High Canine Rescue and more all on the hotel’s terrace with a backdrop of the iconic Flatirons. Sixth Annual Mini Derby at Sky View Farm
While Kentucky Derby hopefuls are gearing up for the race of a lifetime next month, several miniature horses are looking to fulfill their own dreams at the Sixth Annual Colorado Non-Profit Mini Derby. Hosted at Sky View Farm in Castle Rock from 1-5:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 2, the public is invited to enjoy a day of charity and charm featuring mini and hobby horse races, food trucks, live and silent auctions, whiskey and wine tasting, a petting zoo, viewing of the 152nd Kentucky Derby, a miniature horse race, a custom hat bar and much more. Proceeds will benefit multiple local non-profits to support mental health and animal welfare, including Mile High Equestrian & Rescue, Robin’s Nest Foundation and Tall Tales Ranch.
