In a world where female empowerment and gender equality are at the forefront of discussions, Adventures in Good Company (AGC) has been leading the way for more than 20 years by offering trips that combine adventure, camaraderie and personal growth. As a pioneer in women-focused travel, this female-owned and -operated company is providing its clients with the opportunity to embark on extraordinary journeys that not only push their boundaries but also empower them to be strong, confident and independent.
Founded with a goal to create experiences of a lifetime, Adventures in Good Company has been organizing women-led trips since 1999. Kelly Kimple purchased the company in January 2020 from founder Marian Marbury; two months later, the COVID-19 pandemic changed the world and essentially halted travel.
“It was interesting,” Kimple says. “I think the only word that sums it up is hard–very hard. But we got through it and we’re here.”
Kimple says that loyalty and trust helped the company weather the pandemic storm. As an established company, Adventures in Good Company has a loyal customer base; some have been traveling with AGC since its inception. Due to the trust that the community has for AGC, Kimple said it was able to start running domestic trips in the fall of 2020. By 2022, it was back to leading trips around the world. It wasn’t until this year, though, that Kimple says she is feeling as if they are back to normal. “Whatever that is,” she says with a laugh.
Most of the trips have 12 participants or fewer, making connections accessible. From pre-trip calls to ensure that each guest knows what to expect, to facilitating group interactions and ice-breakers, AGC guides are experts in creating atmospheres where women feel comfortable. The supportive and nurturing environment the guides create encourages participants to embrace challenges and explore the world.
“It’s organized travel with expertly guided adventures,” Kimple says. “We focus a lot on creating healthy group dynamics and allowing people the time and space to connect with each other, form connections and friendships. It’s about creating a safe space, both physically and emotionally. That’s been our philosophy since the beginning.”
These adventures take guests to more than 100 destinations, from state to state to around the world. From hiking in national parks to exploring exotic destinations, each adventure is carefully designed to cater to different interests and fitness levels. From hiking and kayaking through Greenland to escaping to a lakeside writing retreat in Maine, AGC trips offer a balance of excitement and personal exploration. Each trip is ranked from level 1 (not very strenuous) to level 5 (requires excellent physical conditioning) so that women can choose their comfort level–and perhaps exceed it a bit.

Hikers celebrate a milestone on the Appalachian Trail as they complete one of AGC’s uniquely crafted adventures, Slackpacking Georgia.
The proof of success is in the longevity of this organization and the guests who keep coming back: In the past five years, 79% of AGC guests were repeat clients—and that’s including the three years of the pandemic.
Adventures in Good Company is ready to take you on a journey. It’s not just escaping the ordinary–it’s also creating a new normal with strength, resilience and limitless potential.
