“Amahl and the Night Visitors” made history as the first-ever opera composed for television in America when it premiered on Christmas Eve in 1951. Today, it remains a cherished work, celebrated for its deep emotional resonance, memorable music, and timeless message.

The story follows Amahl, a young boy with a disability, and his poignant encounter with the Three Kings on their journey to Bethlehem.
